Wholesale Tortillas for New Mexico Restaurants

The state line between Texas and New Mexico is a line on a map. For tortilla buyers in Clovis, Albuquerque, or Las Cruces, we are just a West Texas factory with a distributor network that crosses it.

Leal's Tortilla Factory is in Muleshoe, Texas — about 20 miles east of the New Mexico border. That proximity is why New Mexico restaurants have been ordering from us almost as long as Texas ones. Clovis, just across the line, is the closest market; Albuquerque is the largest, roughly 200 miles away; Las Cruces is farther south, served through US Foods and Sysco's New Mexico routes. If your New Mexico restaurant already orders through Sysco, Ben E. Keith, or US Foods, you can have Leal's on the same invoice.

New Mexico has its own tortilla culture — the chile sauces and preparations that restaurants here use demand a tortilla that holds up, stays pliable, and does not taste like a preservative. Our corn tortillas are stone-ground on volcanic stone from Mexico, three ingredients only, no preservatives. The corn flavor comes through because nothing is masking it. For New Mexico kitchens where the tortilla is part of the dish rather than a delivery mechanism, that difference shows up on the plate.

How New Mexico Restaurants Get Leal's

Wholesale tortillas and chips for New Mexico, and how they cross the state line.

Available through Sysco, Ben E. Keith, and US Foods — or direct pickup from our factory in Muleshoe.

For Clovis accounts, we are 20 miles away and direct pickup at the factory is a practical option. Albuquerque restaurants order through Sysco New Mexico or US Foods; Ben E. Keith has routes that cover the eastern part of the state. Las Cruces restaurants typically order through Sysco or US Foods with routes serving the southern New Mexico corridor. Contact us and tell us where you are — we will point you to the right rep in your distribution network.

Our product line for New Mexico accounts is the same as Texas: corn tortillas, flour tortillas, tortilla chips (cut and fried from our own corn tortillas), and fresh masa by the pound for tamale and specialty applications. No preservatives in any of it. We have been making these products since 1957 and the process has not changed because it works.
